Background
Nottingham Building Society, with 175 years of history, appointed a new CEO in 2022 and reviewed its strategy to stay relevant. They hired Boldspace for PR and social media to grow its presence and commitment to different approaches.
Our approach
We highlighted Nottingham Building Society’s support for savers and borrowers with non-traditional financial backgrounds through PR activities showcasing their aid to underserved groups like business owners, foreign nationals and people with thin credit histories or recovering from life events.


What we did
Trade media
We initially focused on mortgage trade media to strengthen relationships with brokers, vital for Nottingham Building Society. We highlighted issues with outdated lending criteria and amplified news of major milestones, such as their partnership with a fintech mortgage lender.
Rebrand communications
We supported Nottingham Building Society’s bold rebrand, emphasising their mission to aid diverse financial backgrounds. This included research, influencer partnerships, and social content, resulting in extensive media coverage.



Social media
During this period, our remit with the building society expanded as we took responsibility for their social media strategy and content, spanning consumer and mortgage broker-facing channels.
Crisis & issues management
