carwow appoints Boldspace to PR brief

Tom Yazdi

carwow, the leading online car buying and selling platform, has appointed Boldspace to lead its consumer and corporate PR on a retained basis following a competitive pitch.

Boldspace will run press office and campaigns for the fast-growing tech business as it seeks to raise its public profile in the competitive car buying and selling marketplace. The agency will focus on driving national media coverage and creating creative campaigns that deliver cut-through with the brand’s core car buying and selling audience nationwide.

The appointment coincides with the launch of a new high-profile TV ad, delivered by creative agency Lucky Generals, to raise awareness of its innovative Sell Your Car service as part of carwow’s aim to become the go to car service in the sector while also appealing to a younger audience. The star of the ads is a giant blue inflatable “WOW” that turns up when car sellers get notifications from carwow that people want to buy their car.

The account will be led by Boldspace Client Director Tom Yazdi, reporting to Meghan Sinclair, Brand and Communications Director at carwow.

Meghan Sinclair, Brand and Communications Director at carwow, said: “We are at an exciting point in our journey as we seek to scale significantly in the coming years. Raising our profile across our target car buying and selling audience nationally is core to delivering that, so ramping-up our PR efforts to get people talking about the brand is critically important. We’re excited to work with Boldspace, who demonstrated great creative ideas alongside excellent tactical delivery, to drive our national and consumer PR in the months and years ahead.”

Tom Yazdi, Client Director at Boldspace, said: “carwow has always been about creating the most enjoyable car buying and selling experience for its customers and the quality of the service now needs to be matched by the brand’s awareness in the public mindset. We’re delighted to be working with Meghan and the team to play a key part in making that a reality and look forward to driving some truly great work.”

The appointment follows significant expansion at Boldspace in recent months, with the recent appointments of Steph Bailey as Chief Communications Officer from FleishmanHillard and Aivory Gaw as Chief Brand Officer from WPP. The agency now has more than 30 clients across a wide range of sectors including the Post Office, Fridays and Silverstone.
